On Tuesday, September 5th, artist, author and musician Steven Johnson Leyba will be doing a reading in support of his new album, I Speak The Songs Because The World No Longer Sings.

This will be an adults-only event.

On Wednesday September 13, Abby Andresen will be in the store reading from her work.

Abby Andresen started writing horror after discovering the work of Shirley Jackson, Patricia Highsmith, Charlotte Perkins Gilman, and other women writers of dark fiction. Since publishing her darkly comic novel, An Inappropriate Crush, in 2017, she has had stories published in several horror anthologies, most recently in Land of 10,000 Nightmares: Minnesota Tales of Terror by Glint Media. Before that she wrote articles and essays for several Minnesota publications, including Minneapolis/St Paul Magazine, and worked as a Minneapolis-based standup comedian. She tries to mix a little humor with her horror.

Though probably best known for her Enchanted Forest Chronicles, Patricia C. Wrede has been publishing constantly since 1982. Her latest novel is The Dark Lord’s Daughter, and she will be in the store on October 18th from 6:30-8 pm reading from her work and signing books.

On Wednesday, November 8, JASON D. WITTMAN reads from his work. Jason D. Wittman lives and works in Minnesota, and can recite Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Raven” from memory. He has also published or sold about 20 short stories, including two in upcoming issues of Bruce Bethke’s Stupefying Stories.

On December 6th, Naomi Kritzer – local author, award-winner, politics blogger and all-around cool person – will be at the store to sign and read from her new book, Liberty’s Daughter. We will have copies of that available, as well as many of her earlier books.

Wednesday, January 10, 2024 is the annual ROUND ROBIN READINGS. Bring a 10-minute selection and a 5-minute selection. We’ll stop after every piece is read or at 7:45, whichever comes first.
