BIG COMICS SALE!
This Saturday, November 2nd, we will be having a comics clear-out sale. Regular back issues (in the boxes) are all 50% off. Comics displayed on the wall or behind the counter are 25% off. There will be many deeply discounted graphic novels and collections.
Isn’t this the perfect time to pick up those X-men issues you’ve been thinking about?
On Saturday, November 2nd, author Bryan Clark will be in the store for a reading. Clark is an author and film journalist from northern Iowa. He has three books out, Putting the Ground to Sleep and Other Weird Tales and the novelizations of the films The Killer Shrews and The Beast From Haunted Cave. His writing can also be found in various anthologies, as well as the UK-based horror film publication Scream Magazine. A lifelong fan of all things weird, he lives with his family under constant threat of being buried in an avalanche of horror paperbacks and kaiju toys.
Fans of Chicagoland (and those travelling to visit them)! Greg and DreamHaven will be in town for Windycon 50 on November 8th-10th, so stop by and say hello! More info about the convention can be found on their website.
On Wednesday, November 20, JASON D. WITTMAN reads from his work.
Jason D. Wittman works in Minnesota. He has had fiction published in Baen’s Universe, and Bruce Bethke’s Stupefying Stories. He has had two games published by Steve Jackson Games, and he can recite Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Raven” from memory.

Much-beloved for the middle grades (who am I kidding, I love them too!), Patricia Wrede’s Enchanted Forest Chronicles are coming to the stage this January. The first novel, Dealing With Dragons, has been adapted as a play, with a mix of actors and puppets – including a 10-foot dragon puppet operated by three puppeteers!
Before the show opens in January, they’ll be in the store (not the dragon – she won’t fit) to give us all a taste of what to expect. Details on the show are here, and on January 4th we will be visited by some of the puppets and people from The Arts’ Nest for a reading and meet-and-greet. Who do you know that loves dragons? Bring them along!
On Wednesday, January 15, Mary VanAlstine reads from their work.
Mary VanAlstine (they/she) is a writer, artist, and therapist. Writing and art have been a hobby for some twenty years now since they were a goofy little middle schooler. Mary grew up devouring fantasy, especially urban fantasy, and hearing about the writing craft from their father, a science fiction writer. Mary is best known for The Torchwood Trilogy. Mary lives in the city in Minnesota with their nerdy husband, a dramatic preschooler, a very dumb puggle named Bilbo Waggins, and two perfectly angelic cats.

On Wednesday, February 26 at 6:30 p.m. DreamHaven will be hosting a Round Robin reading, where volunteers can read from their work. Readers should bring 15 minutes of material. The readings will continue until 7:45 p.m. or until the volunteers have all had a chance to read, whichever comes first.
